One of the beautiful things about being on this year-long sabbatical, having doubled down on meditation by spending 20mins twice per day in that headspace, focused on a single business, with no other responsibilities – career or personal, is that I have LOTS of time to reflect and connect the dots. And as if out of nowhere today, I was like, hold on…it’s 2019, wasn’t it 1999 that I did this…that? Woah! How long have I been in the Tech/Digital Space again?
I stopped what I was doing and wrote this down:
Timing is everything!
My first Startup was in 1999 – Internet Media
My first USA Startup gig in 1999 – Chief Content Officer of a Diaspora Focused Facebook Type Network of Sites
Blogging for 15 years
Digital Strategist 14yrs
Startup Ecosystem Development 12 yrs
Tech Event Producer 12yrs
Podcaster/Vlogger 7yrs
I blinked and it’s been 20 years, yep, I’m a GenXer. And what a journey it has been. I’ve made a lot of money, lost a lot of money, won a number of awards, experimented a lot, made so many mistakes, learned a whole lot, facilitated thousands of Caribbean and Diaspora Tech entrepreneurs, travelled speaking about Caribbean Tech across the world, have a pretty decent reputation, a killer global network and have developed stunning skills. But what I have been seeking to do, is to connect the dots of all that I have done so far…and trust where it’s leading me to now.
So let’s see where the Abundant Universe takes me next…especially since I’ve taken all of that and unapologetically focused on building my Content Marketing Agency for Cannabis Brands, Maverick Media Group and investing in Cannabis Businesses. While still maintaining the SiliconCaribe Caribbean Tech Blog as a platform for Caribbean Tech Entrepreneurs.
Additionally, I’m taking a 100% meditation-driven, gut-led approach to all of my decision-making, which was partly inspired by how Oprah has built a mission-based media empire based on her values, authenticity and a gut-led decision-making style; and also by the book “The Surrender Experiment” by Michael A. Singer.
In essence, the book is about this question ” what would happen if we respected the flow of life and used our free will to participate in what’s unfolding, instead of fighting it? It’s about leaping into life to live in a place where we are no longer controlled by our personal fears and desires….to see where the flow of life’s events would naturally take you. It’s a challenge that’s about “what happened when someone dared to let go and trust the flow of life…. this type of surrender does not mean living life without the assertion of will…… what happened when the assertion of will was guided by what life was doing instead of what I wanted it to be doing.” All towards trusting “that aligning one’s will with the natural forces unfolding around us leads to some surprisingly powerful results.”
Then recently, having found this Twitter Thread by Naval Ravikant on How to Get Rich ( Without Getting Lucky) by Entrepreneur and Investor, I’m super aligned to my personal mission of building wealth for myself along the way.
I’m doing this, while traveling the world, which is a rabid passion of mine, as I’ve been full-time Digital Nomad for 6 months now and will achieve year 1 of my Radical Sabbatical in October 2019. So I will keep doing this until my soul tells me differently.
Damn, I feel like I’ve only just begun.
